Introduction Map Tiles Rules Rules-SR Rules-OR Designer's Notes FAQ
18CH is in a very early stage of development. Clearly not yet in playtest. These rule fragments and other stuff is only on the Web for easy access and to remind myself of the project's existence.
A company may only lay or upgrade a tile, if some newly built track is connected via legal, domestic train route to one of the company's tokens. This even applies to station tiles, so that you only can upgrade a blocked station tile when coming from an unconnected edge.
Laying or upgrading a tile costs connection points: one point for beige, yellow and green tiles, two for blue, three for brown and four for grey tiles. Building on difficult terrain needs more point, the number of constructions point needed is printed on the hexag or tile.
Each company, depending on its class, is allocated a number of free construction points, a number of construction points costing CHF60 and another number construction points costing CHF. So,for example, a class S company can build one point free or two points for a tital cost of CHF or three points for a total cost of CHF180. The SBB may build 4 points for free. In an extremal case, the SBB can build 16 points for CHF1080.
Within the limits of available and paid construction points (and of the Build Rules), a company can freely allocate its build and even do multiple upgrades on the same hex.
The Swiss border for playing purposes is demarked with a dashed red line. This line runs only on hexag edges, so that each hexag is either Swiss or foreign. All foreign hexags touching the border can be used for tile laying and running trains. But a route through foreign territory is not sufficent for laying tiles or tokens. A transit bonus for connecting two countries A and B, cannot be scored using a route through C.
On the four major cities of Zurich, Genf, Basel and Bern, the tiles may be placed, that normally are only available in the next phase.
Interest on outstanding loans is handled by moving, the companies loan marker one step to the right (if it doesn't stand on the CHF0 field).
To repay all or some of the loans, the company moves the loan marker to left and pays the difference to the bank.
At any time during its OR turn, a company may take loans be moving its loan marker to left and getting the difference out of the bank.
